Off The Page works by Stephanie Sherwood, Emily Rieser and Ellen Sheffield

Sculptural with moving parts, multilayered with poetic text and images, and tactile with found objects and handmade papers, the artists’ books by three Ohio-based artists, in surprising and inventive ways, break expectations of what one thinks of as a book.

This exhibition proposes a presentation of wall pieces, drawings, and tabletop three-dimensional bookworks by three artists working in the genre of artists’ books. While focused on themes and approaches unique to their own artistic practices, they have in common an obsession with the book form as both a vessel and a vehicle for imaginative aesthetic expression.  Each in her own way pushes the boundaries of the iconic book “off the page”.
